CAS LEARNING OUTCOMES

5. Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively.

6. Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance.

7. Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions.

Over the past couple of years, I have realized how much all of us are contributing to hurt our mother planet by increasing global warming. Most of our waste comes from plastic and it is no new news that plastic is harmful to the earth.

This year not only have I, myself tried to reduce using plastic but I am also made myself a part of a school club called Greenhawks which raises awareness of global warming and encourages our school to promote green.

Greenhawks has provided every single classroom in our school with a big cardboard box in which teachers and student can store their paper waste, plastic waste, or any other waste that could be recycled. Greenhawks members every couple of months visit each classroom to collect the waste so it can be sent to be recycled.

This year my friend and I went to a couple of classrooms to collect waste and were astonished to see how much of it was plastic. Then all the Greenhawks members met in one room and started sorting out the wastes in plastic bottles, paper waster, plastic waste, and etc. We kept the plastic bottle on the floor and crushed them using our feet so they could no longer be reused.

At the end of the year, Greenhawks then sends all of the recyclable waste to a recycled company. This is absolutely amazing as this way most of the plastic in our school is not going to the landfills but is being recycled.
